The Boathouse is a tiny cottage by the sea in North Devon.  It's close to the beach though without the direct sea view.  It's cosy, peaceful and full of historic character.
Owned since the early C20th by a family with links to the Churchill family, and the actress Prunella Scales had very happy memories of staying next door as a child during World War 2.
A perfect hideaway and base to explore and enjoy the South West coast path.  With a comfortable king size bed, and two bunk beds above the staircase for older children or adults.

The Boathouse Cottage  is beside the footpath down to Bucks Mills beach.  Dogs are welcome on the beach, which has a wide strip of sand exposed for 1 -2 hours on either side of low tide.

The seas at Bucks Mills are sheltered when the winds are from the west.  One day the sea can be crystal clear and calm, and the next it can be wavy and the water cloudy with sand.  There are seals and dolphins to be spotted, and fish of all varieties make for a good local supply of fresh fish caught by a handful of small fishing boats based in Clovelly - lobster is often on the menu!

We especially love the spring tides which create the lowest water, when a lot more sand is revealed and there is great shrimping in summer.
